EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY | Pride Centre of Edmonton | Position: Executive Director | Abstract: The Pride Centre of Edmonton seeks an Executive Director with the vision & competencies to lead the Centre to effectively fulfill its mission. The PCE is uniquely positioned to provide & support services that strengthen a multifaceted Community of communities with different, and sometimes competing, needs|interests, and to channel a voice for those communities. Our Community includes persons of all minority sexual orientations and identities, often intersectional with other minority identities, with diverse experiences and views. Our budget is under $1M and we have a staff of about six. 

Key Responsibilities include: Develop & maintain relationships with multiple groups within the Community we serve so that their concerns are reflected in how the PCE carries out its mission; Interpret the mission, develop and implement strategic plans, and measure results; Share leadership with the active, policy-style Board; Develop & maintain the PCE’s visibility and leadership in both our service Community and the wider Edmonton community.

Qualifications | Experience as a not-for-profit Executive Director preferred; relevant senior management experience will be considered; Relevant post-secondary education; A strong personal connection the community we serve, preferably lived experience as a member of one of the communities; Knowledge of queer history and understanding of issues faced by sexual minorities, especially where these issues intersect with the needs of other marginalized groups; Superior leadership, communication, interpersonal and diplomacy skills.

Required TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES, typical to an Executive Director role in a small not-for-profit, include: Budgeting, grant application|financial management; Personnel management; Public relations; IT and social media management or oversight; Fundraising leadership and oversight; Effective use of office computer applications; Facility management.
