EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Context: ECALA has been working for the 3 years with the Indigenous Community to centre our work within Indigenous Ways of Knowing. 

We are in the process of implementing recommendations from our Indigenous Advisory Committee in order to support Indigenous literacy and learning programs that meet the unique needs of Indigenous learners with components of both an Indigenous framework & adult learning principles.

The Position | The Indigenous Education Liaison position reports to the Executive Director. Primary objectives of the position include supporting ECALA as we implement changes to the funding process for Indigenous literacy and learning programs; providing coaching and education to funded organizations, ECALA staff and other stakeholders who have the desire to engage Indigenous learners to participate in programs within the Community Adult Learning Program (CALP) Grant; and building relationships between ECALA staff and urban Indigenous community, including Elders and Knowledge-keepers. 

Compensation: Salary range will commensurate with experience, education and other similar non-profit organizations · Health Spending Plan of $2500.00 per fiscal year available after three-month probationary period, in addition to RRSP contribution of 2.5% per salary after one year of employment. ·       TLC for Caregivers | An afternoon of quiet reflection and some sharing and rest to honour those who are in for the long haul of caring for someone with little ability to care for themselves. ·       Slow Down! Retreat Days with Sandy Prather | Take time to rest your body and refresh your spirit.  Each retreat day consists of thought-provoking presentations on a spiritual topic combined with ample time for personal reflection and prayer. | Thurs January 18: “How I Love Your Word!”: Soaking in Scripture. | Thurs March 15: Leaning Into Lent: Daring to go Deep. | Thurs April 19: “Pack Nothing!”: Travel Notes for the Journey. 9:30 to 3 pm. | $40/retreat day (includes lunch).

·       Writing Our Sacred Lives from Sacred Earth | Do you dream of writing? These four sessions will provide input, time for writing, and time for sharing. The focus will be on a connection of our individual lives to the land, our planet, and the cosmos:  a contemplative ecological approach. Come explore the life-lines of your life in a prayerful, reflective space. ·       St. Paul: Accepting the Challenge to Follow ‘The Way’ | This 30 minute live theatre piece shares St. Paul’s conversion experience, of how he was filled with God's Light and Love and was sent on an amazing journey! The performance is followed by a reflection, and talk-back session.
