Recovery College Abstract | Recovery College is offered at multiple CMHAs across Canada. All Recovery College courses are co-developed and co-facilitated by people with lived experience. Courses are open to anyone who wishes to improve their wellness and are offered free of charge. Each course has stated learning objectives and the effectiveness and impact of the courses are being continually evaluated.

Job Summary: Reporting to the Recovery College Coordinator, the Recovery Facilitator provides facilitation of Recovery College courses which are open to individuals experiencing a mental health concern, mental illness and/or addiction, as well as caregivers. This position will co-facilitate with a Peer Facilitator and together they will both demonstrate the competencies of Recovery College which include: hope, collaboration, personal growth, recovery planning, communication, creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, managing information, capacity building and inclusivity. Recovery Facilitators are responsible for ensuring that all the required paperwork is completed accurately to ensure effective course evaluation. Monthly conference calls with supervisors and other Recovery College facilitators are required to assist information flow and continual learning as a team. Courses are offered weekdays, evenings, and weekends and in multiple locations. Flexible availability is an asset.

Qualifications & Experience | Successful completion of Recovery College training. Training is offered several times throughout the year. Successful applicants will be invited to attend the training at no charge. Familiarity with the guiding principles of peer support as detailed by Peer Support Canada, a deep commitment to understanding the recovery model. Successful attainment and maintenance of Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training is an asset. Experience working or volunteering within addictions or mental health is an asset. Acceptable attainment and maintenance of a Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check and an Intervention Record Check.

Skills & Abilities | Strong interpersonal, relationship building, verbal|written communication skills, intra-group conflict management. Lived experience with a mental health concern and recovery or experience in supporting a loved one or family member with a mental health concern is required for this position. Successful attainment|maintenance of Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is an asset. Experience working or volunteering within addiction or mental health organizations is an asset. The position is part of a team that manages the information and referral data utilized by 211, while ensuring adherence to required AIRS accreditation standards. The CRS-DC identifies and researches new and updated community services information to respond to the changing needs and resources of communities in Alberta.

Qualifications & Experience | • Related post-secondary diploma or bachelor’s degree (in a Human Services or Social Science field preferred) • Minimum 1 year of experience in a data entry/administrative support role that included proofreading, editing documents or records management and/or experience developing relationships with community organizations and stakeholders • Acceptable attainment and maintenance of a Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check and an Intervention Record Check • Successful Completion of Gender Based Analysis + Training and Brain Story Certification are an asset • Knowledge of dBase principles, including taxonomy, is an asset.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY | Candora Society | Position: English Language Learning Instructor | General: This full-time position, is responsible for the coordination and facilitation of the ELL Program. Program hours (up to 35 hours per week) are determined based on the funding received. Position Reports to: Coordinator of Adult Learning Programs. Note: posting will remain open until Oct. 20, 2019. The position will begin November 4, 2019.

RESPONSIBILITIES | Develop learner centered & inclusive lessons, utilize appropriate themes and plans for variety of learning levels; Facilitate ongoing ELL classes to diverse groups of adults with a variety of English abilities; Provide support to participants at their individual learning levels; Participate as part of Candora’s Adult Program team to collaborate with co-facilitators concurrently delivering an ELL component within other agency programs; Support writing of reports and funding proposals; Develop and implement evaluation surveys and or assessment tools; Register, interview and track participants; Supervise ELL volunteers; Schedule and coordinate field trips and guest speakers; Participate in community connecting activities; Provide monthly reports; Other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS | Bachelor’s degree & TESL, (A)TESOL, TEFL, or TEAL certification preferred. Previous experience teaching adult English Language Learners.
