Reporting to the Director, Family and Community Supports and participating as a member of the departmental extended leadership team, the Supervisor of Family Violence Prevention is responsible to: Provide leadership, strategic direction/supervision to 10 professional social workers in the delivery of the Domestic Abuse High Risk Team (DAHRT), Senior Protection Partnership (SPP) and City Wide Family Violence Prevention ● Oversee and lead complex projects and city wide initiatives related to Domestic Violence, Elder Abuse and Family Violence Prevention ● Coordinate the multidisciplinary SPP Team which includes City of Edmonton, Edmonton Police Service, Covenant Health, Catholic Social Services, and Sage Seniors Association ● Respond to council inquiries and prepare related council reports as requested ● Represent the branch and liaise with key community partners and stakeholders to advance this work ● Integrally involved in analyzing police and social data to identify community trends and issues and to inform strategic direction and approach ● Oversee, develop, implement and monitor team budgets, work plans, and protocols.

Qualifications: Completion of a University Degree in Social Work ● Must have current registration as a social worker in good standing with the Alberta College of Social Workers ● 5 years of progressively responsible experience working in a social service environment, including professional experience leading and managing others ● Experience providing leadership/supervision to professional staff working to address complex social issues ● Experience in the areas of domestic violence and elder abuse, partnership development, strategy development & involvement in complex multidisciplinary partnerships would be an asset ● Strong skills developing and maintaining effective working relationships with partners & internal/external stakeholders ● Strong leadership, problem solving, project management, conflict resolution, interdisciplinary team building & supervisory skills.

PLUS > Ability to think strategically ● Excellent verbal/written communication skills including presenting information to a diverse audience/writing reports ● Current knowledge of leading practice related to domestic violence and elder abuse and knowledge of the police system ● Familiarity with risk assessment tools, family violence protocols and community resources ● Hire is dependent upon an Enhanced Security Clearance from Edmonton Police Service satisfactory to the City of Edmonton. Please note: This process can take up to three weeks ● Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Must arrange own transportation to be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton policy. This may require business auto insurance.
